I use the term fauxtographs® for my manipulated Polaroid SX70 photographs. When I began creating these hand-altered photographs in the late 90's, I thought they looked more painterly than photographic. To me, they are half photographs-half paintings because I am able to soften the hard lines of photography using small sculpting tools to move the emulsion. This 'look' appealed to me and allowed me to create these miniature paintings of the places I lived and visited. My original fauxtographs are 3"x3" but are available as large digital files which can be enlarged to approximately 40"x40" or larger. They are popular as fine art paper and canvas prints.
